"The Apple of His Eye"
Updated: Aug 17, 2019
"For the LORD’s portion is his people, Jacob his allotted inheritance.
In a desert land he found him, in a barren and howling waste. He shielded him and cared for him; he guarded him as the apple of his eye,"
The sensory gifts that God has blessed us with are wonderful, but maybe the most valued of all is the gift of Sight. Of the five sensory gifts none more fully connects us to our world than it.
We are the "Apple of His Eye", that is our Father God's eyes. To be the "Apple" of God's eye has some wonderful meaning to it.
He Watches You
To say that we are the "Apple of His Eye" conveys the truth that we are God's primary focus. He is watching us.
"The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore." Psalm 121:8
We are Never out of our Father's sight; He continually watches over us. He goes before us, as a good Shepherd, preparing the way we will go.
He Protects You
Consider how our eyes work. There is a protective reflex built into our brain so that whenever there is a perceived threat to the eye the lid closes automatically to protect the eye from harm. It is a "Reflex", an involuntary response that bypasses our will. It's automatic.
So it is with the Father's protection over us; it's Automatic. God says that "No weapon formed against us will succeed." Nothing Satan does will ever accomplish what he intended for it to.
He Loves You
To be the Apple of one's eye also speaks of love. There's an old song with the title "I Only Have Eyes For You". It speaks of singular devotion, that the one who is the Apple of the eye holds a special place that no one else can fill.
This is how our Father thinks of you; of us all. We are his singular focus and He loves us.
Isn't it wonderful to know that our Heavenly Father Focuses on us, Protects us, and Loves Us with perfect Love?
You are The Apple of His Eye.
