"What if God's People Prayed?"

Casting Crowns, in the early 2000's, released a song entitled "What if His People Prayed." Still a relevant question to ponder.

For decades I've wondered why that for ~90% of church attending Christians prayer meetings and prayer in general takes such a low priority. So, I did what any good Christian would do and asked AI. The question I asked follows:

"Hypothetically, what should a person or churches life look like if they truly believe what the Bible teaches regarding Prayer?"

AI's response follows.

PERSONAL LIFE:

Constant communion: Prayer wouldn’t be reserved for emergencies or rituals; it would be woven into daily life—like breathing.

Confidence in God’s presence: They’d approach prayer expecting God to listen and respond, not hoping He might.

Transformation through surrender: Instead of trying to control outcomes, they’d yield their will to God’s, trusting His wisdom and timing.

Peace and resilience: Philippians 4:6‑7 would be lived out—anxiety replaced by peace that “passes all understanding.”

CHURCH LIFE:

Prayer as the engine, not the accessory: Meetings would begin, end, and be sustained by prayer. Decisions would be made only after seeking God’s direction.

Unified intercession: Members would gather not just to socialize but to labor together in prayer for their city, leaders, and the lost.

Expectant worship: Services would carry a sense of holy anticipation—believing God moves when His people pray.

Visible fruit: Miracles, conversions, reconciliation, and spiritual renewal would flow naturally from a praying community.

In short, prayer would shift from being a program to being the pulse—the heartbeat of every believer and every congregation.

As a rule I don't have a lot of confidence in AI, but in this case, AI pretty well nailed it.

The old hymn "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" includes these lyrics.

"O, what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, all because we do not carry everything to God in prayer."

Let's ask God to search our hearts regarding prayer and bring the necessary corrections and motivation.
